Siemens says sets network speed record
Siemens said in a statement it had processed data using exclusively electrical means at 107 gigabits per second -- roughly two full DVDs per second -- and sent it over a single optical fiber channel in a 100 mile-long (161-kilometre) U.S. network, the first time outside of a laboratory.

BBC moves to file-sharing sites
Hundreds of episodes of BBC programmes will be made available on a file-sharing network for the first time, the corporation has announced.
The move follows a deal between the commercial arm of the organisation, BBC Worldwide, and technology firm Azureus.

School accuses 5-year-old of sex harassment
A kindergarten student was accused earlier this month of sexually harassing a classmate at Lincolnshire Elementary School, an accusation that will remain on his record until he moves to middle school.
Washington County Public Schools spokeswoman Carol Mowen said the definition of sexual harassment used by the school system is, "unwelcome sexual advances, request for sexual favors and/or other inappropriate verbal, written or physical conduct of a sexual nature directed toward others."

Skydiver in 12,000ft fall survives
A British skydiver had a miraculous escape when he plunged 12,000 feet into a blackberry bush in New Zealand after his two parachutes failed.
Michael Holmes, 25, from Jersey, was filming a group of other parachutists on the freefall shortly before he crashed into rough scrubland at Five Mile Bay. He sustained lung injuries and a broken ankle.
