Dr. Heinrich Geissler Erfindungen sind die Vorläufer der modernen Leuchtstofflampen, der Glühlampen und Röntgenröhren. Für das evakuieren seiner Gasentladungsröhren hat er eine Quecksilber Vakuumpumpe erfunden, die heute zwar nur noch als historisch gilt, die aber eine für die damaligen üblichen Kolbenpumpen sehr grosse Verbesserung darstellte. Damals war ein Minimaldruck von 2 - 3 Torr erreichbar, mit der Geisslerschen Quecksilber-Glaspumpe nach dem Barometerprinzip konnte aber ein Druck von 0.008 Torr erzielt werden. Also eine Steigerung des Evakuierungsgrades um das Dreihundertfache.

Strange Clouds
Lenticular clouds are simply one more example of the beauty and complexity that can be the result from a simple process in nature.These lens-shaped clouds are often mistaken for UFO’s because of their weird shape that seems to mandate a prior design. But like evolution, it is just a process that has designed these kind of clouds..

Google Launches Universal Gadgets
Google Gadgets have gone universal. The search and services company announced today that anyone can put its Google-powered widgets on any site or blog.
Google has had these Gadgets available for a while, but only for use on Google Desktop or Google Personalized Homepage. All of the popular widgets are there, including weather, driving directions, Google Maps, Google Calendar, traffic, Pac-Man, Hangman, a Google Video player and a moon phase calendar, among hundreds of others.
