Joints können Psychoserisiko erhöhen
Über einen Zusammenhang zwischen dem Konsum von Cannabisprodukten und psychischen Erkrankungen wird schon seit längerem spekuliert. Jetzt deutet eine Studie darauf hin, dass ein bestimmtes Gen das Psychoserisiko bei Menschen erhöht, die in ihrer Jugend Joints geraucht haben.

Über die mangelnde Ehrlichkeit der Forscher
Wissenschaftler sind auch nur Menschen, und wenn sie forschen, machen sie wie alle anderen Fehler. Schlampereien passieren immer wieder, aber manche unterschreiben mit ihrem Namen auch Fachartikel, deren Inhalt sie nicht wirklich kennen, andere verändern ihren Forschungsansatz, weil Geldgeber das möchten, oder ignorieren Daten, weil sie nicht in das erwünschte Ergebnis passen. Die Spitzenreiter fälschen sogar die Resultate.

German city to install "sex garages" for World Cup
A German city is rushing to install a series of drive-in wooden "sex garages" in time for next year's Soccer World Cup and an expected boom in the local sex trade, a city official said Wednesday.
Dortmund, one of 12 cities to host World Cup matches, is anxious to keep prostitutes and their clients off the streets by providing them with discreet places to do business.
Experts estimate as many as 40,000 prostitutes may travel to Germany to offer their services to fans during the tournament.

Chilli bombs to combat elephants
Wildlife experts in India's north-eastern state of Assam are trying out tripwires and "red chilli bombs" to keep wild elephants away from villages.
The battery-operated devices with warning bells are being fixed a few hundred metres from houses to warn people in good time of coming animals.
The measures are aimed at preventing herds of wild elephants from destroying crops and attacking villagers.
In the past 15 years, elephants have killed more than 600 people in Assam.

Robots designed for everyday life not ready for living rooms

PBDR, developed by Tohoku University Professor Kazuhiro Kosuge, is programmed with ballroom dance steps and equipped with special wheels to move in all directions upon predicting the leading dancer's movement by a sensor.
