Germans to pay by fingerprint at supermarkets
Customers of a German supermarket chain will soon be able to pay for their shopping by placing their finger on a scanner at the check-out, saving up to 40 seconds spent scrabbling for coins or cards, bosses say.
An Edeka store in the south-west German town of Ruelzheim has piloted the technology since November and now the company plans to equip its stores across the region.

Flaming Object Seen In Night Sky
A bright object was seen falling over the night sky across the Pacific Northwest, at about 7:45 p.m. Pacific time. Eyewitnesses from as far south as Northern California and as far north as Vancouver, British Columbia reported seeing the object falling in the western sky.
“The object began as a small white dot roughly the brightness of a planet, and quickly became a brilliant blue-green color with a long spark-like tail of yellow specks. From my vantage in Southeast Portland, Oregon it moved roughly from south to north and at a 45-degree angle downwards through the sky. I also saw two flashes of white light as the object disappeared behind the hills on the west bank of the Willamette River,” reported Wikinews contributor Buckwad.

Money used to buy cocaine, pot was counterfeit
Both drug dealers and the law were after a trio who deputies say printed counterfeit money to buy marijuana and crack cocaine.
Fortunately for the suspects, the law found them first.
Jeremy Randall Johnson, 32, and two 17-year-olds, Kyle David Duncan and Adam Mallett, all of Macclenny, have been charged with felony counterfeiting charges after an investigation into the fake bills, said Chuck Brannan, chief investigator for the Baker County Sheriff's Office.
