Linux on the Mac Mini
Apple's Mac Mini is something which a lot of Linux users have been waiting for: An inexpensive, readily available PowerPC system in a small, quiet and attractive chassis.
Debian is very popular on Intel i386 compatible systems. Due to the open source nature of the Linux kernel and the Debian operating system, it is possible to build the same software to run on the PowerPC processor found inside the Mac Mini. Eine Riesenschweinerei - Lkw verlor mehr als 50 tote Schweine
Mehr als 50 tote Schweine haben den Verkehr auf der B50 bei Oberwart im Burgenland behindert. Ein Lkw der Tierkörperverwertung hatte einen Container verloren. Die Tiere lagen auf und neben der Fahrbahn verteilt.

ISSCC: Bionische Ohren signalisieren Analog-Trend
Die Zukunft in der Entwicklung von Mobilgeräten gehört dem Analog-Chip, behauptet ein MIT-Professor. Der Grund: Solange das Produkt nicht allzu komplex ist, können analoge Komponenten drastisch Strom sparen, erklärte Rahul Sarpeshkar von der Bostoner Elite-Universität auf der International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC). Den Beweis traten jetzt vier seiner Studenten mit einem komplett implantierbaren analogen Cochlea-Ersatz an.

Musikindustrie mahnt Ebay ab
Probleme mit verbotenen Artikeln als Tsunami-Spende "Einem geschenkten Gaul schaut man nicht ins Maul". Das kann allerdings teuer werden, wenn man das Geschenk von Omi nicht unauffällig hinterm Sofa verschwinden lässt, sondern beispielsweise bei Ebay anbietet. Auch für Ebay selbst.

Illegale Kopiersoftware im Test
Die Deutsche Bibliothek in Frankfurt testet derzeit Kopiersoftware, die nach Ansicht der Musikindustrie in Deutschland illegal ist. Die Bibliothek hat die ausdrückliche Genehmigung der Musikbranche, für wissenschaftliche und kulturelle Nutzungen den Kopierschutz auf CDs zu knacken.
