Porn and Politics Close Internet Cafes in Vietnam
Vietnam’s communist government has closed 65 Internet cafes and kiosks after discovering hundreds of URLs on computers that lead to porn and anti-government Web sites. This is the latest step in a crackdown of what citizens use the Internet for.

Woman wearing 'President Bush You Killed My Son' T-Shirt disrupts first lady's rally
A woman wearing a T-shirt with the words "President Bush You Killed My Son" and a picture of a soldier killed in Iraq was detained Thursday after she interrupted a campaign speech by First lady Laura Bush.
Police escorted Sue Niederer of Hopewell, N.J., from a rally at a firehouse after she demanded to know why her son, Army 1st Lt. Seth Dvorin, 24, was killed in Iraq. Dvorin died in February while trying to disarm a bomb.

Though the Mozilla Web browser's share is still small, it's winning converts wary of security holes in Microsoft's dominant product.
When was the last time you heard about the browser wars? Well, they're back. The reason: For the first time in more than seven years, Microsoft (MSFT ) is losing Web browser market share. And it's not just a blip. According to Web analytics company WebSideStory, Microsoft's share of browser users who visited top e-commerce and corporate sites shrank from 95.6% in June to 93.7% in September. And people using browsers made by the Mozilla open-source software group grew from 3.5% to 5.2%.

Shackled wife-napper tries to flee, jumping from cop car going 70 mph
A shackled Queens man hurled himself out of a police car going 70 mph on a North Carolina highway yesterday - in a brazen attempt to escape justice for abducting his wife.
In a dramatic scene witnessed by a Daily News reporter and photographer, Miguel Carrasquillo hit Interstate 40 head and shoulder first and rolled about a dozen times off the road into grass and mud.

Player dies after lightning strikes team
A high school football player injured when lightning struck the team as it finished practice has died of severe burns, authorities said.
Russell Pennington, a senior at Grapeland High School, died Wednesday in a hospital. He was among about 40 players and coaches with the team in east Texas who were hospitalized after the lightning bolt struck Tuesday afternoon.

Jason Larsen types in a few lines of computer code to hack into the controls of a nearby chemical plant. Then he finds an online video camera inside and confirms that he has pumped up a pressure value.

Thieves rob bus full of policemen
Forty-six Brazilian policemen travelling to a sports competition were caught with their guard down this week when four Brazilian thieves robbed the bus carrying them to the event.
The bus with 46 unarmed policemen from northeastern Paraiba state was headed to the city of Salvador in Bahia when two cars with armed robbers forced them to stop on the country's main interstate highway on Tuesday.
