Fruity sweet wrappers spark complaint

Festival keeping cat-killer film

Documentary on local torture case horrifies activists Screening video `just as cruel' as the crime itself. Toronto International Film Festival organizers have no intention of pulling a controversial film from the 2004 program, despite the outcry from local animal-rights activists.

"This is about freedom of expression of the filmmaker to make a intelligent, responsible film about a difficult subject," said festival programmer Sean Farnel of his decision to schedule Casuistry: The Art Of Killing A Cat. "That's what the festival is all about, setting the terms for debate, not stifling them."

Farmer creates cornfield maze of U.S.

There's something corny about Ted Johnson's plan to help educate schoolchildren about America's geography.

Johnson has cut a maze in the shape of the continental United States into a 12-acre cornfield on his Autauga County farm. He's toyed with the idea of a cornfield maze for some time, but all the ones he had ever seen had a Halloween theme.

Frank Cooper and Shirley Cleary have their bras back.

About 20 bras and lacy underthings were seized by the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The unmentionables had been hanging from a barb wire fence on the couple's property. Officials said some people might find the bra fence offensive and that it was a nuisance near a state managed fishing site along the Missouri River.

Scores Arrested in Anti-Bush Protests in New York

Police arrested more than 125 people on Tuesday as protesters opposed to Bush administration policies marched near the World Trade Center site and blocked streets in the city's financial district on the second day of the Republican political convention.

More than 100 people were put in plastic handcuffs and led to police vans after the War Resisters League began a march from the trade center site -- destroyed in the Sept. 11 attacks -- to a planned "die-in" near Madison Square Garden, where Republicans were holding their convention to nominate President Bush to a second term in office.
