Alkoholpegel rettete sechs Männern das Leben
Eine Reisegruppe ist haarscharf der Tragödie entkommen, bei der zwei russische Flugzeuge fast zeitgleich abgestürzt und 89 Menschen ums Leben gekommen sind. Die jungen Männer waren beim Betreten ihrer Maschine so betrunken, dass sie nicht mitfliegen durften.

Wenn die Männer in den heiligen Krieg ziehen, müssen auch die Frauen mitziehen
Bislang dominieren zumindest in den Bilden, die wir zu sehen bekommen, bei den islamistischen Extremisten die Männer. Das scheint ganz normal in traditionellen muslimischen Gesellschaften zu sein, in denen die Frauen am öffentlichen Leben höchstens verhüllt teilnehmen und nicht viel zu melden haben. Eine Organisation, die al-Qaida nahe sein soll, versucht jetzt über eine Internetpublikation, auch Frauen für den Dschihad gegen den Westen zu begeistern.

Marine dies, father burns himself
His wife says a Florida father "went crazy" today when he was told that his Marine son was killed in combat in Iraq.
Carlos Arredondo was burned over 50 percent of his body when he allegedly used gasoline and a lighting device to set a Marine van ablaze.

Arrrr!Ich bin heute hier, um mit euch über Urheberrecht, Technologie und DRM (Digital Rights Management) zu reden, ich arbeite für die Electronic Frontier Foundation an Urheberrechtskram (größtenteils), und ich wohne in London. Ich bin kein Anwalt – ich bin eine Art Sprachrohr / Aktivist, obwohl die mich gelegentlich in meinen Bar Mitzvah Anzug stopfen und zur Normungsorganisation oder zur UN schicken, um Ärger anzuzetteln. Ich verbringe etwa drei Wochen pro Monat damit, die seltsamsten Sachen zu machen, zum Beispiel zu Microsoft zu gehen und über DRM zu reden. Ich führe ein Doppelleben: Ich bin nämlich auch Science Fiction Autor. Das bedeutet, dass ich unglaublich parteiisch bin, weil ich davon Träume, als Autor meinen Lebensunterhalt zu verdienen, seit ich 12 bin. Zugegebenermaßen, mein IP-basiertes Geschäft ist nicht so groß wie eures, aber ich kann euch versichern, dass mir meins so wichtig ist wie euers euch.
Euch von dem hier zu überzeugen bin ich hier:
- Dass DRM Systeme nicht funktionieren.
- Dass DRM Systeme schlecht für die Gesellschaft sind.
- Dass DRM Systeme schlecht fürs Geschäft sind.
- Dass DRM Systeme schlecht für Künstler sind.
- Dass DRM ein schlechter Schachzug für MSFT ist.

Witchcraft blamed as man grows genital organ on face
IN a bizarre incident, a Bulawayo man allegedly developed a female genital organ on the right side of his face stretching up to the chest in what is suspected to be a case of witchcraft. Reporters from the Chronicle newspaper say they visited the man at the hospital, and found him having covered the alleged female organ with a towel.

Van full of guns, explosives found in Montreal
Police say a minivan found in downtown Montreal loaded with guns and explosives likely belonged to an organized crime group. Inside the van, police found 15 guns and as much as 135 kilograms of explosives.
The firearms included automatic weapons, semi-automatic machine guns and handguns.

Phone call saves Ohio woman from truck accident
A woman says her life was likely saved when she answered a hang-up phone call. Mary Dhume of Ohio was watching television Monday night when the phone in the next room rang. She got up to answer it, but there was no one at the other end of the line.
Then she heard breaking glass and saw her living room wall collapse onto the chair where she'd been sitting.

Squirrel Runs Circles Around Yanks, Tribe
This squirrelly newcomer caused quite a stir at Jacobs Field. A brown squirrel ran onto the field in the bottom of the third inning Wednesday night and ran circles around the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians.

Spanish tomato-tossing fiesta breaks record
A record 40,000 people thronged this small eastern Spanish town to take part in the annual "tomatina" -- a festival of tomato-hurling that leaves participants and buildings covered in red juice, pips and skin. Five trucks delivered 130 tonnes of the fruit for the hour-long combat which attracted foreign tourists, among them British, French, Argentinian and Japanese visitors, as well as locals, many wearing a minimum of clothing.
