New arrest for Fredrikstad's comic criminal
A habitual law-breaker best known for some remarkably inept crimes has struck - and been arrested again. This time he managed to sneak away from a home in Bydalen in downtown Fredrikstad with a wheelbarrow full of stolen goods. Twelve hours later he was arrested, a few hundred meters from the scene, newspaper Fredriksstad Blad reports.

Alice Cooper's Snake Eats Too Much
Alice the albino python had a little too much to eat for dinner. Just hours before its owner, rocker Alice Cooper, was to take the stage at a theater in Wallingford last weekend, the 8-foot-long snake ate a live rat and then swallowed a 12-by-14 inch heating pad, wires and all, that had been left in its cage by mistake.

Towel found in woman's body 7 years after surgery
Relatives of a woman whose surgeon left a rolled-up towel inside her chest seven years ago have filed a lawsuit against the clinic where the surgery was performed.
Bonnie Valle often complained about an odd feeling in her chest in the years following a procedure at the Cleveland Clinic, family members said.

Greek activists say a 200-foot surveillance zeppelin patrolling Olympic Athens tramples on civil rights and have launched legal action to ground it.

Dutch politicians consider toe-licking ban
The Dutch Labour party wants to pass a law making unsolicited toe-licking an offence after police were unable to prosecute a would-be Casanova with a taste for female toes, because he had committed no crime.
A police spokesman said on Friday that a man had been detained after women sunning themselves in Rotterdam's parks and beaches claimed he would sneak up on them and begin to lick their toes.

World's Hairiest Man Has Ear Hair Removed to Hear
The world's hairiest man, Chinese rock singer Yu Zhenhuan, underwent ear surgery in Shanghai on Friday to remove hair that was impairing his hearing, the Xinhua news agency said on Friday.
Doctors said Yu had complained of constant earaches and nausea and had lost one-third of his hearing, Xinhua said.

Hiker says he stabbed bear in back with ax
Officials closed a backcountry area of Denali National Park after a hiker told rangers he had driven off an attacking grizzly bear by burying his ice ax in the animal's back.
Park Service spokeswoman Kris Fister said Roberto Cataldo, 29, of Modena, Italy, reported the encounter Monday. A roughly 50-square-mile tract that encompasses the area where Cataldo said he had hiked was closed indefinitely.

Australian woman reports freak kangaroo attack
An Australian woman attacked by a drought-crazed kangaroo in the national capital said she was lucky to be alive. In the second attack of its type in a month, Canberra resident Maree Steer suffered deep cuts and bruising after she tried to stop the kangaroo attacking her pet labrador.

Paris Hilton home burglarized
Police confirmed Friday they were investigating a burglary at the Hollywood Hills home of Paris and Nicky Hilton.
Someone broke into the house Wednesday night, but detectives haven't identified a suspect, Officer Esther Reyes said. She wouldn't comment on what was stolen, citing the ongoing investigation.
