Pestalozzi gestorben


Der Schweizer Bestsellerautor, Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftskritiker Hans A. Pestalozzi ist tot. Er starb 75-jährig bereits am 14. Juli in Wattwil (Kanton St. Gallen), wie die dortigen Behörden heute auf Anfrage Medienberichte bestätigte.

Der breiten Öffentlichkeit wurde der frühere Leiter des Gottlieb-Duttweiler-Instituts (GDI) in den 80er Jahren mit Sachbuchbestsellern wie "Nach uns die Zukunft" und "Auf die Bäume ihr Affen" bekannt, die jeweils Auflagen von bis zu mehreren 100.000 erreichten.

Two cows recaptured after wandering through beer tent at NS lobster festival


It's a good thing the menu called for seafood instead of beef.

Two cows have been captured after 15 adventurous days of freedom, including a stroll through a beer tent at a local lobster festival. The pair made their break while being delivered to their new home in Pictou earlier this month. Several men on horseback were able to catch them on Saturday.

Italy's Mr and Mrs Oversize


A 30-stone woman and 32-stone man have been crowned Italy's Mr and Mrs 'Over Size' in a beauty pageant aimed at making people feel better about being overweight.

More than 5,000 people turned up to see Giovanna Guidoni named Mrs Over Size and Fabio Teseo Mr Over Size at the contest in Forcoli near Pisa.

Chilean man's hotel protest


A Chilean man dangled himself from a balcony on the 20th floor of a Miami hotel to protest against local discrimination against tourists.

The man, who wasn't identified, carried out his protest at the JW Marriott hotel on the city's Brickell Avenue.
