Mother waits 31 years to sue zoo over killer hippo


Still thirsting for redress 31 years after her teenaged daughter was bitten to death by a hippopotamus, a Beijing woman is suing the city zoo for 440,000 yuan ($53,200) in additional compensation.

Germanys Team Won't Stay on Hotel's 13th Floor


Germany soccer team refused to stay on the 13th floor of a plush Lisbon hotel, fearing it will bring bad luck in the Euro 2004 competition.

The squad have asked the management of the five-star Corinthia Alfa hotel to allocate them different floors to the Bulgarian team, which had just checked out of the hotel.

Buzzard dies dive-bombing a van


An angry buzzard which was blamed for more than 20 attacks on cyclists on a country road in Devon has died after dive-bombing a van. The bird had been swooping on cyclists, gouging holes in their helmets.
