A British waitress working in Austria has denied charges of urging a drunken restaurant customer to ram his head into a wall, in a lethal stunt apparently inspired by the cult MTV show Jackass.

Ex-cable guy accused of 10,000 hookup thefts


Des Moines police say a former cable television installer is responsible for more than 10,000 illegal hookups in the city over the past 15 years.

Luqman Abdul-Aziz, 58, allegedly charged $80 to $100 per hookup. The initial fee covered customers for six months, sometimes longer, police said. Many were then asked to pay more.

A Russian man walked down nearly 800 steps of a hotel Wednesday to break the world handstand descent record, according to a report. Nikolai Novikov took about 40 minutes to go down 32 flights of marble-plated stairs in a historic Moscow hotel.

Soccer fans will be allowed to smoke dope to keep calm!


EURO 2004 chiefs are to let England's biggest ever invasion of fans smoke dope during the contest - hoping it will make them too chilled to fight.

Police in Lisbon will take a "relaxed" view of cannabis use for the month-long competition in a bid to cut the threat of hooliganism, they said yesterday.

An official admitted they would rather fans were stoned and happy than drunk and violent.

No Sex Before Games, Please, Says Germany Doctor


Germany's team doctor has advised players not to have sex shortly before Euro 2004 games and drink plenty of water instead.

The players' wives and partners are staying at a hotel next door to the players' near the Algarve resort of Almancil.

Team doctor Tim Meyer says sex immediately before games should be avoided because of the physical and emotional strain involved.

Australian pub's mice-chewing contest provokes outrage


A competition at an Australian pub where contestants chewed live mice in order to win a holiday was condemned as outrageous cruelty by an animal welfare group. The RSPCA said it would seek the maximum penalty against the two participants in the competition at the Brisbane pub where the incident occurred in front of horrified patrons.
