Verbatim nennt Preis für Double-Layer Rohlinge


Ende Juni sollen die ersten Double-Layer Medien von Verbatim auf den Markt kommen. Jetzt nannte der Hersteller den Preis für das Produkt: 15 Euro pro Rohling. Grund für den hohen Preis ist das aufwändige Herstellungsverfahren und die anfangs geringe Nachfrage nach den Medien.

Die englische Autorin und Physiotherapeutin Sammy Margo berichtet, dass durch falsche Sitzpositionen häufig Beschwerden wie Rückenschmerzen und Muskelverstauchungen entstehen.

Das Buch rät beispielsweise dazu, bei einem bevorstehenden Tor nicht ruckartig aufzuspringen, sondern langsam in den Stand zu gehen und sich dann mit Auf- und Abhüpfen für den Torjubel aufzuwärmen.

Braut trug zur Hochzeit einen 2,8 km langen Schleier


Am Mittwoch hat in Korneuburg die Österreicherin Eva Hofbauer geheiratet. Zu ihrer Hochzeit trug sie einen 2.812,55 Meter langen Schleier, welcher von den anwesenden Gästen getragen werden musste, dies gab die Nachrichtenagentur APA bekannt.

Harrods apology over Hindu bikinis


London's famous Harrods department store has apologised to its customers for selling controversial underwear bearing images of Hindu goddesses.

Harrods removed the underwear and swimwear range from sale after a protest by a Hindu pressure group.

Hindu Human Rights said the garments, created by Italian designer Roberto Cavalli, insulted the religion.

Stupid Pot Growers du Jour


Investigators made a quick hit finding 150 marijuana plants along the Tennessee-Kentucky state line.

The suspected growers left maps in their car that led to the pot plot. As many as 120 plants were found in a cornfield, Weakley County sheriff's investigator Marty Plunk said.

Pentagon Pays $100 million for Unused Airline Tickets


he Defense Department spent an estimated $100 million for airline tickets that were not used over a six-year period and failed to seek refunds even though the tickets were reimbursable, congressional investigators say.

The department compounded the problem by reimbursing employee claims for tickets bought by the Pentagon, the investigators said.

To demonstrate how easy it was to have the Pentagon pay for airline travel, the investigators posed as Defense employees, had the department generate a ticket and showed up at the ticket counter to pick up a boarding pass.

Fender sale value put at up to $500m


Thirty-seven years after Jimi Hendrix immortalised the Fender guitar by setting fire to one at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, the musical instruments company is up for sale in a deal that could be valued at up to $500m.

Fender is understood to have appointed Goldman Sachs to look at selling the business, which is expected to be put into a competitive auction.

A German sociologist Werner Habermehl says regular sex can help university students pass exams and get better grades, reports Ananova.com .

The German sociologist from the University of Hamburg said he and his team had tested students before and after sex. They found that regular sexual activity increased mental capability significantly, but said that celibate students found it harder to make the grade.
