16,000 Internet Cafes Closed In China
Over the last three months, the Chinese government has closed 16,000 internet cafes, following a campaign in the country aimed at protecting children and adolescents from corrosive influences. The closures have been reported by state media.
The reports show that drive holds a lot more influence that was initially thought. Last month, the Xinuha news agency reported that almost 9,000 cafes had been closed since February. All of them were unlicensed.

Irak-Folterer blieben meist straffrei
Mutmaßliches Fehlverhalten von US-Soldaten im Irak oder in Afghanistan wurde bisher kaum bestraft. Es wurden dabei 91 Fälle untersucht; die Palette reicht von Diebstahl bis zu Mord.
In 42 der Untersuchungen geht es um Misshandlungen, in 30 Untersuchungen sogar um den Tod von 34 Menschen. Über Strafen habe es aber wenig Berichte gegeben, nur ein Soldat wurde entlassen, in sieben weiteren Fällen gab es Disziplinarmaßnahmen.
Ansonsten wurde die Hälfte der Todesfälle natürlichen Ursachen oder Notwehr zugeschrieben.

Miss Australia Wins Miss Universe Contest
After a two-hour pageant in Quito, Ecuador, Miss Australia, Jennifer Hawkins, was crowned Miss Universe.
Hawkins, who is a 5ft 11in, blue-eyed blond, comes from Bondi Beach in Sydney, and was chosen as winner from 80 contestants.

Nine things that you should never say during an interview. Strengths and assets should be what sells you.
Most seem simple and obvious but why risk it, check the link and be sure you know how to conduct yourself.
3 would be something like "fer sure, make me barf, gag me with a spoon, like yeah", when asked if you would like this job. Seriously some very good points to remember.

Derzeit stehen die Beastie Boys aufgrund ihres neues Albums 'To The Five Boroughs' im Medieninteresse, das sie zugleich nutzten um US-Präsident George W. Bush zu beleidgigen.
'Bush ist ein Arsch', soll Ad Rock laut Onlinedienst 'Launch' gesagt haben. Aber in manchen Regionen sei der Präsident dennoch beliebt. Mike D sagt Bush eine ruhige Zukunft voraus, weil er im kommenden Jahr nicht mehr im Amt sei.

Scheidung per Internet jetzt möglich
Unter dem Titel 'eJustice' und der Leitung des Oberlandesgerichts Oldenburg wurde am Dienstag die Scheidung per Internet ermöglicht. Als Instanz für die Probephase wurde das Amtsgericht Westerstede ausgewählt.
Ehepaare, die eine Scheidung wünschen, lassen die erforderlichen Schriftsätze und Klageanträge mittels E-Mail an das Gericht übersenden. Für die Nutzung des Angebots ist eine Registrierung der beauftragten Juristen und Verfahrensbeteiligten nötig.

Mysteriöser Vorfall bei Gedenkfeier - Abgetrennte Hand fiel vom Himmel
Eine Gedenkfeier auf einem Boot in Long Island (US-Bundesstaat New York) wurde am gestrigen Dienstag von einem mysteriösen Vorfall überschattet.
Demnach war eine abgetrennte Hand vom Himmel gefallen und auf dem Boot gelandet. 'Derzeit haben wir keine Ahnung, woher sie kommt. Es ist ein Mysterium.', so die Polizei.
Laut den Behörden berichteten zahlreiche Zeugen auf dem Partyboot, dass sie gehört haben wollen, wie die Hand 'gelandet' ist. So hörte auch ein Besatzungsmitglied dieses Geräusch und fand schließlich die Hand vor.
