Oslo awash in deadly heroin
An extremely pure and strong strain of heroin is currently being sold on the streets of Oslo. It's believed responsible for 11 deaths by overdose during just 18 days earlier this month. Deaths from overdose have been on the decline in Oslo, but officials now fear a sharp increase. From a high of 115 in 2001, they fell to 79 in 2002 and 53 in 2003.

Jens A., ehem. SPD-Mitglied und berühmt geworden als sog. Kanzler-Ohrfeiger, macht mit seinen neuen Äußerungen über diesen Vorfall weitere Schlagzeilen. Er sagte: 'Lieber jetzt eine Ohrfeige, als später eine Bombe!'. Dem Stern sagte er weiter, dass mit ihm alles in Ordnung sei und er auch nicht zum Psychiater müsse.

Three Brothers Hang for $2.69 Murders
Three brothers were hanged in Pakistan Tuesday for murdering two brothers from another family after a dispute over less than three dollars, officials said.
President Pervez Musharraf had rejected mercy appeals from the condemned men who were executed in Mianwali prison in central Punjab province.

Where Have All The Users Gone?
One of my favorite tools for studying trends on the web is Alexa's traffic anlaysis tool. (From that link, select a "site info" for one of the sites listed on that page, and then click on the "see traffic details" link on the subsequent page and you'll see what I'm talking about.)
From time to time I take a look up various sites within Alexa's tool to see how things are doing. I was astonished to see what the trends are in the past six months, for many of the sites I visit.
In a word, the trend is down.
