Thousands may have human form of mad cow disease
Some 3,800 people in Britain could be harbouring the human form of mad cow disease without knowing it, government-funded research suggests. Scientists who examined 12,674 stored appendix and tonsil samples said they had identified three bearing signs of the agent that causes variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

First Janet Jackson, Now Nipple Video Banned
Four months after Janet Jackson outraged the United States by bearing her breast on TV, Ireland has banned a video to encourage voting in next month's European elections because it shows a bare nipple.
In Britain, where bare breasts are shown daily in tabloid newspapers, the film will be shown in censored form. The breast-feeding sequence survives but shots of the offending nipple have been edited out.
The 45-second film was produced by the European Parliament's audio-visual department and shows a suckling baby trying to decide which of its mother's breasts to feed from.

Information Cannot be Owned
Apart from technology, the information age has up to now badly served its idol. It has failed sufficiently to recognize specific features of information. This is shown with respect to the question whether legal rights on information can take the form of ownership. The answer is negative considering that communication by its very nature is free and constitutes a basic value, and furthermore that law is itself information and cannot systematically dispose of information flows. Analyzing the phenomenon of information, the differences of its properties as compared with those of a physical object are illustrated and assessed as fundamental; ownership would therefore be for information a Procrustean bed leading to mere arbitrariness. Intellectual property, although granting exclusive rights concerning information is not by itself opposed to these findings. But the conflict arises, if its purpose of shaping competitive advantages is spoiled to the detriment of information flows by lack of neutrality in two senses: the lack of balance between the title holder’s value generation and the reward, and of neutrality towards the various kinds of communicative relationships.

Chainmail Condom -- steel, handmade, medieval novelty
You are bidding on one handmade chainmail condom! YES, this is real chainmail! The links are 18ga and 14ga (for the trim) 1/4" interior diameter galvanized steel, knitted in a classic European 4-in-1 weave. When fully stretched vertically, it measures approximately 7 inches long, and about 1 7/8 inches across.
This is a project that started out as something quite different, but took a very naughty turn! Of course, this isn't intended to be actually worn or used--just a unique and nifty gift item for that kinky guy or girl who already has everything!

Sasser fan club stops rattling tin
Fundraising abandoned at under $100
Supporters of the self-confessed author of the Sasser worm, Sven Jaschan, have abandoned attempts to raise money on his behalf.
A brief notice on the support site explains: "Actually, we were unable to get a hold of Mr. Jaschan in a timely manner, so we have decided to stop our fundraiser. Losing the paypal account didn't exactly improve the case either, and it seems all other online payment services have even worse fees." Any dosh handed was earmarked for giving Jaschan a good time before his case comes to court rather than towards paying legal fees.
