Sex with Bjork

"To the one that got away," I said, as I lifted my drink to the heavens.

"Who's the one that got away?" Honza asked.

"Bjork, sweet Bjork."

"That singer from Iceland?"

"Yes, that lovely princess!"

Rewind. We left the Uz Jsme Doma show early. As we waited for the metro to take us back to Prague 6, I saw the sight for my sore eyes to behold. Bjork was there with some of her friends.

A researcher from the University of Wisconsin at Madison has figured out a better way to slice cheese just use a laser.

Some see fluorescent fish as neon signs of trouble

Past the shark lagoon and piranha tanks at a Park Ridge pet store dart tiny fish that some consider far more alarming. The glowing red and green swimmers at the Living Sea Aquarium represent the vanguard in the brave new world of genetically engineered pets being sold across the United States. Marketed under such names as "Night Light Fish" and selling for up to $30 apiece, they gleam like inch-long neon signs, thanks to DNA transferred from sea coral and jellyfish.

RIAA seizes police powers, EFF says "yay!" -- Except they don't

I don't usually write about things like copyright witchhunts from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), mainly because there are groups like the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) who do a good job fighting the good fight.

Well, usually.

Chemists crack secrets of nature's super glue

Researchers have discovered that iron in seawater is the key binding agent in the super-strong glues of the common blue mussel, Mytilus edulis. This is the first time researchers have determined that a metal such as iron is critical to forming an amorphous, biological material.

In addition to using the knowledge to develop safer alternatives for surgical and household glues, the researchers are looking at how to combat the glue to prevent damage to shipping vessels and the accidental transport of invasive species, such as the zebra mussel that has ravaged the midwestern United States.

Officers in Southern California didn't need a crime dog to sniff out a pot farm _ they just followed their own noses.
