Cat rides 150 miles in car's engine, OK
The long-haired gray cat rode unseen in the engine compartment of a female college student's car as she drove home for the holidays. Officials at Pontiac's Michigan Animal Rescue League, the feline's current home, say he probably survived the 150 mile-trip in the Chevrolet Tracker because the woman did not stop.

Loose screw halts nuclear plant
Spanish nuclear technicians have got a screw loose - forcing an entire plant to stay off-line.
Two days of intensive searching have failed to find the 2.5cm-diameter (one-inch) screw - forcing the plant to stay shut until further notice.

West Haven cops seize $4 million in pot plants
Police responding to repeated 911 calls to check a a house on Center Street, a block from the police station, uncovered a two-location marijuana growing operation Monday and seized 1,000 plants with an estimated street value of $4 million.

America's controversial Christmas trees
For an overwhelmingly Christian country which prides itself on freedom of expression, removing "offensive" Christmas trees and censoring school Santas may seem curious. But as far as American public institutions are concerned, it is not Christmas but the "holiday season".

Three arrested over 'drugs website'
Police believe they have uncovered the first website in the UK allegedly designed to sell illegal drugs over the internet.
Two men and a woman were arrested and were being interviewed on Monday following claims they had run an internet site which is thought to have supplied cannabis through the post.
