Ottawa stays pot charges in 4,000 cases
Ottawa is making it a green Christmas for 4,000 people -- it plans to stay thousands of charges of pot possession as a result of legal battles over medicinal marijuana.
The decision will apply to every person in Canada charged with possession of marijuana between July 31, 2001, and Oct. 7, 2003, Justice Department spokeswoman Pascale Boulay said yesterday.

Does anybody know how to clean up
paints on cloth, leather, carpet, plastic, viynle, and metal??
I bought a spray paint and put it inside the car, but it somehow got caught under the seat. I didn't know so when I adjust the seat it punched a hole on the can and the paint blew out like a jet engine........

German fined for communist license plates, 13 years on
The 32-year-old was driving with a caravan attached to his vehicle in the eastern state of Saxony and was stopped by highway police surprised to see the distinctive communist-issue plates, far smaller than the current tags, used in the east before national unification in 1990.

The US Secret Service has said it is not going to launch an investigation into a song lyric written by Eminem.
The rapper - real name Marshall Mathers III - wrote in an unreleased song: "I don't rap for dead presidents, I'd rather see the president dead."

Die rasante Ausbreitung der DSL-Technologie erfolgt bekanntlich in erster Linie in den Ballungsgebieten. Internetnutzer, die abseits der Datenautobahnen wohnen, müssen bislang auf die teureren Satelliten-Angebote zurückgreifen, wenn sie breitbandig surfen wollen. Ein Nachteil neben den Anschaffungskosten für die benötigte Hardware ist dabei auch der Umstand, dass man für die Übertragung ins Netz einen Rückkanal über eine herkömmliche Telefonleitung braucht.

The people who design rogue programs that take over computers from afar are now applying the tactic that made music pirating programs so effective - and the Internet may never be the same.
The rogue programs, known generically as "Trojan horses," have enabled pornographers and others to mask their identities by using unwitting people's computers as relay stations. It had been assumed that diligent investigators could ultimately shut down a system by identifying the server computer used as the initial launching pad. But now a researcher has determined that a new kind of Trojan horse could make the systems virtually unstoppable.

Für die vom chinesischen Sicherheitsexperten Liu Die Yu kürzlich entdeckten Sicherheitslücken im Internet Explorer tauchen bereits erste Schädlinge auf. Wie Antiviren-Experten bestätigen, gibt es seit neuestem trojanische Pferde, die sich als "easywww.exe" und "easywww2.exe" im Windows-Verzeichnis einnisten; über einen Run-Schlüssel in der Windows-Registry aktivieren sich diese Schädlinge beim Hochfahren automatisch. Ein solcher Trojaner wurde erstmals in den Niederlanden entdeckt; er habe momentan nur eine kleine Anzahl von Rechnern befallen, die Verbreitung nehme aber langsam und stetig zu.

Schmidt: Zu teuer
Obwohl die Show vergleichsweise einfach gestrickt war, war es vor allem das Honorar des Talkmasters, welches nur schwer einzuspielen war. So soll Schmidt pro Sendung 40.000 € verdient haben, also ca. 800.000 € pro Monat. Hinzu kommen laut «Bild» 60.000 € Produktionskosten für die tägliche Sendung.
