Heute Rechensaurier besuchen
Am heutigen Samstag, dem 29.11., lädt das Museumsrechenzentrum von Cray-Cyber.org von 12 bis 18 Uhr zum bislang zweiten Tag der offenen Tür ein. Adresse: Stäblistr. 10b, 81477 München. Der Eintritt ist frei.
Besucher können laufende Großrechner aus verschiedenen Epochen der Computertechnik bewundern. Zu den bekannten Herzstücken der Sammlung gehören eine flüssiggekühlte Control Data Cyber 860 aus dem Jahr 1982, eine Cyber 960 von 1986 sowie eine Cray Y-MP EL von 1991. Nachdem die Räume des Museumsrechenzentrums Anfang des laufenden Jahres renoviert wurden, konnten neue Exponate die Sammlung bereichern, darunter eine NEC SX4B/2A und eine Control Data 4680MP.

Drunk Finnish Judge Claims Toothbrush Defense
A Finnish judge who heard four criminal cases while drunk insisted the breath test was flawed because she was too busy to brush her teeth that morning.
During a hearing in March, Judge Leena Pettinen's blood alcohol content was three times the legal driving limit, Finland's attorney general said.

Commissioner's pet project will see ferrets get passports
European dogs, cats and ferrets are to receive passports next year, allowing them to scamper freely across borders within most of the European Union.
The documents will have a blue cover, embossed with the yellow stars of the EU, and will contain a photograph of the pet and a code corresponding to its tattoo or microchip that will guarantee that it is free of rabies.

Warning issued after drunken elk attack
Swedish authorities have issued a warning against intoxicated elks after a woman was attacked by a drunken elk. Swedish authorities are apparently not taking any chances and have issued a warning against berry-intoxicated elks after a woman was attacked in costal town of Karlshamn, Sweden.
