Air Car Caught in Turbulence
Worried about rising gas prices and automobile pollution? Relax. If a European company has its way, cars could soon be running on air. By the end of this year, Moteur Developpment International, a 12-year-old company headquartered in Luxembourg, says it plans to distribute model fleets of so-called "air cars" in Spain and France.
As the name implies, this is no ordinary car. It runs entirely on a stream of air delivered to a two-stroke engine. No gasoline, no pollution and no costly expenditures at the pump.

Google File System paper

The file system consists of hundreds or even thousands of storage machines built from inexpensive commodity parts and is accessed by a comparable number of client machines. The quantity and quality of the components virtually guarantee that some are not functional at any given time and some will not recover from their current failures.

Super-Secret Volumetric Video Menagerie.
Donut share.
BACKGROUND: THe basic idea is simple: Video is composed of a large number of individual frames, each with X and Y dimensions. Just stack each frame on top of the next and you've got a Z dimension to place into a volume renderer.
Traditionally used to display things like MRI's and CT scans, we're going to abuse the technology a bit in the name of art :-)

Measure The Speed of Light With Chocolate and A Microwave
Nothing travels faster than light - it only takes 8 minutes for it to reach the Earth from the nearest star, the Sun, which is 150 million kilometers away. This means that when you see the sun (remember not look directly at the sun), you’re really seeing light that left the sun 8 minutes ago – you’re seeing the sun as it was, and where it was, 8 minutes earlier.
