Child Sex Scandal Rocks Embassy in Pretoria
Burmese embassy keeps 15-year-old sex slave. The South African police have launched a high-level probe into allegations of sex slavery and prostitution at the Myanmar embassy in Pretoria. The probe was launched after a 15-year-old Asian girl informed police last week that she had been sexually and physically abused there. The girl is now under the care of the child protection unit (CPU).

In Österreichs Supermärkten weihnachtet es bereits: Spar, Billa und andere Mitbewerber setzen schon im ausgehenden September auf Weichnachtsschokolade, Adventkalender und Christbaumschmuck. Laut Handel ist die Nachfrage vorhanden. Heuer werde erstmals getestet, wie die Kunden auf die frühe "Besinnlichkeit" reagieren. Und: Es werde ja niemand dazu gezwungen, die Sachen auch zu kaufen.

The bunker nightmare
As the 1999 war in Yugoslavia Ended, doors to a bunker dug deep underneath Pristina Airfield opened, and nearly a dozen unharmed Serbian MiG-21 fighters emerged to retreat from the area. The United States had repeatedly tried to destroy this series of tunnels and caves with GBU-28s, 5,000-pound precision-guided "bunker busters" developed during the Gulf War. But the best those hulking bombs could do was seal off entryways by burrowing a few feet in before exploding from the impact. The MiGs, sheltered much farther down, were untouched.
