The Abu Ghraib Prison Photos

These are just some of the photos that led to an investigation into conditions at the Abu Ghraib prison, now run by the occupation authorities, as revealed in a shocking report broadcast by CBS on 60 Minutes II.
"This is international standards," said Karpinski, in an earlier interview with CBS. "It's the best care available in a prison facility."

"We were dealing here with a broad pattern, not individual acts. There was a pattern and a system."
- Pierre Kraehenbuehl, director of operations for the International Committee of the Red Cross
CBS News broke the story of Iraqi prisoner abuse in its 60 Minutes II program on April 29th since which a growing political storm has raged that today reached the level of Congressional and Senate hearings in which Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was on the hot seat. Rumsfeld offered his "deepest apology" to Iraqi prisoners abused by sadistic military personnel and said that even more disturbing videos and photos are yet to come. "It's going to get a good deal more terrible, I'm afraid," he forewarned.
